Sample Fake / Scammer Email

Wednesday, July 12, 2017

Here is a sample of a fake email, that may fool some people, if you do not know what to look for.

The From and Reply-To emails in this is a big giveaway. Also, I am my own system administrator, so that is a 2nd big clue.

The goal of this would be to gain access to personal information of yours. They could reset your email password, causing you to be shut out of your own email, then your email would tell this person what social media you have access to, as well as any online banking, or payment methods (such as paypal). Those passwords can then be reset and the accounts compromised.

Never answer these emails. Just mark it as junk or delete it.

Scam Email

If you are ever unsure, don't be afraid to call your techie person, or another reputable computer person to help figure out a strange email.
